MAKING LAS VEGAS A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE
Vegas Valley Comic Book Festival drawing new fans
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Interest in comic books is exploding and so is the Vegas Valley Comic Book Festival. The chance to see this medium up close is making Las Vegas a better place to live.
Local author and illustrator F. Andrew Taylor says comic books can make for some deep reading. "There is superhero stuff. But also detective stuff, horror, and deep philosophical reading." Suzane Scott is the performing arts center coordinator for the Clark County Library District. She says the event really grew this past year. "The first couple of events were mostly focused toward adults and teens. But since then we've been adding more family elements. Last year we saw a jump in families as well." Thousands of Las Vegans will take in the comic book festival. Taylor says, "We're trying to expose people to the medium. It's not just guys in tight pants beating on each other. It's a big wide world out there and we want people to see it.".
