Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A local man is trying to get kids reading more. So Karl "KC" Christon and his friend Ricky Scott collaborated on a children's book series called "Hang N With Kasey."
The two visit local schools to talk to kids about how to write and illustrate stories. The men say they decided to write the series of books when they realized how serious the literacy problem is in the United States.
KC says, "I don't have to tell you there is nothing you can do if you're not proficient in reading, writing, reading comprehension. And it's just not happening at a fast enough pace."
KC decided to author the book series after learning that SAT literacy scores are at a 40 year low. He and Ricky Scott are hoping this book series and their school visits can help turn that around.
Ricky Scott told us, "The best feeling i get is the reaction from the kids ans seeing how they love what we do."
