11 A.M. UPDATE: The suspect has been taken into custody by the LVMPD SWAT team. No injuries were reported.

While Las Vegas police worked to handle the situation inside the home, a 12-year-old boy was alone in another house nearby. And his mother frantically tried to get past police to get home.

Many others were stranded for hours. Lienel Castillo drives a semi-truck and could've lost money as the hours ticked by -- because he couldn't get to his rig.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is at the scene of a barricade situation at an apartment complex on the 2800 block of Pebble Road.

Officials tell 13 Action News, a man called police around 6:30 a.m., claiming to have shot and killed somebody.

Officers also received several other calls around the same time, from people in the Loft 5 apartment complex, who said they heard gunshots.  Callers told police they had seen an adult male on a balcony, holding what appeared to be a rifle.
