Man due for arraignment in Las Vegas mother slaying case

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A 19-year-old Las Vegas man is expected to plead not guilty to murder and other charges in the shooting death of a mother of four in a neighborhood gunbattle four weeks ago.

Erich Milton Nowsch Jr. is due for arraignment Thursday in Clark County District Court following his indictment last week on charges also including attempted murder and firing a weapon from a vehicle.

The indictment doesn't name a getaway driver still sought in the Feb. 12 shooting of 44-year-old Tammy Meyers. She died two days later, on Valentine's Day.

The shooting was initially characterized as road rage, but was later found to involve more complex relationships.

Police now say Meyers' adult fired several shots at Nowsch during the fatal shootout in a cul-de-sac outside the Meyers home.
