Two people were hurt, one critically, in a hit-and-run crash Tuesday evening.

It happened around 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday near Desert Inn Road and Seneca Drive. Police said a 2007 Chevy Express Van was traveling eastbound on Desert Inn when it rear-ended a Ford Explorer Sport Trac, causing moderate damage. The crash caused both vehicles to spin out of control and strike a block wall and a power pole.

Both occupants of the Ford were transported to Sunrise Trauma Center. Ismael Alers, 60, has serious injuries while Magda Lara, 50, is in critical condition.

The driver of the Chevy fled the scene on foot, failing to notify police or render aid, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
