A popular event is returning to Laughlin this weekend despite being canceled last year due to concerns about debris.

Thousands are expected to hit the Colorado River for the nine-mile float on Saturday. Entries were limited to 22,000.

Back in 2016, debris covered the banks of the Colorado River after the River Regatta. To alleviate those concerns, organizers are requiring everyone to dispose of their floatation devices at the end of the event. Crews will also work to clean up the launch and landing sites, and scuba divers are going to scour the river after the event.

The event begins at 7 a.m. More information can be found here.
