GOP looking to take back Nevada Senate
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Political power of the Nevada Senate is up for grabs on Election Day.
The outcome of five key races will determine whether Republicans wrest control of the chamber from Democrats, who hold a narrow 11-10 majority. Democrats have held the majority since after the 2008 election.
Washoe County's District 15 contest between Republican Sen. Greg Brower and former Democratic state Sen. Sheila Leslie could be the decisive race.
The other four closely watched races are districts 5, 6, 9 and 18, all in southern Nevada's Clark County.
In the Nevada Assembly, Democrats hold a 26-16 advantage and are expected to retain their majority status.
One key race is in Assembly District 37, where Democratic incumbent Marcus Conklin is challenged by Republican Wesley Duncan.
