Veterans Day is just around the corner and some vets in our area are receiving more than just a 'Thank You' for their service.

The Quilts of Valorare making veterans feel appreciated through quilts stitched with gratitude for those who served.

Victoria Colburn-Hall of the organization is a mother of two service members herself.

"It's scary but I'm so proud. I couldn't be more proud of what they've done"

The Quilts of Valor is a national service group founded in 2003 to connect with veterans.

Hall has dedicated her time to make sure others who have served and their families feel they are not forgotten.

"Every stitch that we put in these quilts provides us comfort too," says Hall.

Robert Christie is a military veteran. "We give up our entire family and everything to fight for this country, a lot of people take that for granted."

Christie received a quilt in September. "I had goosebumps. It felt really good. It felt like I knew there's people that cared still about us veterans."

Each quilt is a unique handmade gift stitched by volunteers. A small gesture that has brought tears and smiles. "We need to thank our veterans. Without them we wouldn't have our way of life," says Hall.

Quilts of Valor has given out about a thousand quilts to veterans in Nevada within the last four years.
