Police say they shot a suspect on Tuesday afternoon in the area of North Pecos Road and Asbury Hill Avenue, which is near East Bonanza Road.

The suspect was shot after he pointed a gun at an officer, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The shooting was reported at 2:52 p.m.

The man's injuries were described as minor.  He was released from University Medical Center Tuesday evening.  Authorities have not released his identity but say he is facing multiple felonies.

No police officers were injured, said investigators.

Police said a gun was recovered at the scene.

It began as a call for a stolen vehicle, said police. Patrol officers spotted the speeding car. The vehicle eventually crashed at the corner of Pecos and Bonanza.

Police say the armed suspect then fled into a nearby neighborhood.  That's when an officer in an unmarked car spotted the suspect in between two homes.

The suspect pointed his gun at the officer and he was shot, said police.

"It's very, very scary," said neighbor Maria Guerra, "he was at the 7-11 and jumped to my backyard."

The nearby streets were closed to traffic for several hours as police continued their investigation.
