UPDATE AT 7 PM: The main portion of the hospital was put on code silver, which means that everybody needs to lock down.

However, 13 Action News spoke to a podiatrist office who works in an adjacent building, which is part of the complex but not the main hospital.

They said they were never even warned like they're supposed to. The office says patients were inside a SWAT teams were outside while no one from the hospital even told them.

The podiatrist office says it's not the first time this is happened either. They say they were also left in the dark another time when people are breaking into their cars in the parking lot.

The office just hopes the protocol will change because doctors have been shot in the past and they want to keep their practice safe.

UPDATE AT 10:30 AM: Reports indicate that the incident was a false alarm. Those who evacuated the hospital are returning inside.

Summerlin Hospital issued the following statement after the incident:

On behalf of Summerlin Hospital Medical Center,  we would like to thank the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department for their quick and incredible response to what turned out to be a false alarm reported earlier today.  We are grateful for your service.
