A Pahrump woman injured by two pitbulls is in the hospital while people around her community search for her lost dog, which ran off during the chaos.

Joy Rawson has lost her husband, lost her son and her dog Jenny is now one of the most important parts of her life.

"You have no idea what this dog means to me," Rawson said.

Rawson says she was walking Jenny Monday when a neighbor's open gate let out two pitbulls.

"They came right at me, right at me," she said. "Knocked me on the gravel."

Rawson says the pitbulls weren't after her though, they were after Jenny, who managed to run away.

Now, thanks to friends like Cindy Cann, there is hope Jenny will be found.

"We had about 10 people out looking for Jenny after it all came down," Cann said.

Cann says Jenny is Rawson's life and is like a child to her.

Rawson has a broken femur, a dislocated knee and several scrapes and bruises.

Nye County Animal Control says the owner of the pitbulls is "mortified" and also helping in the search for Jenny.
