A 60-year-old man is dead after being hit by a car overnight on Boulder Highway.

It happened shortly after 11 p.m. on Boulder Highway near Nellis Boulevard.

Police say that the man was in a crosswalk when he was struck, but it doesn't look like the driver will face charges.

Witnesses told police that the light was green and the man should have not been walking at the time.

The 53-year-old driver stayed on the scene and there are no signs that the driver was under the influence of alcohol or speeding at the time.

The incident resulted in road closures for several hours.

So far this year, we've seen about the same number of people die on our roads as last year. This is the 63rd traffic-related fatality so far for 2016.

But, police are worried the number could increase as we head into fall.

The Clark County coroner will release the name of the deceased after relatives have been notified.

The incident is still under investigation.
