A professor at the University of Nevada Las Vegas is researching the psychological impact of the 1 October Attack.

Stephen Benning is currently searching for people to take part in a research study in which they'll share their experience of the 1 October attack through an online database.

"Telling stories about trauma can really help people heal," Benning said.

The study is not only open to those who survived the attack. Anyone living in Las Vegas who heard about the shooting within 24 hours of its occurrence can share their thoughts.

"This is something that affected a lot of people's view of the city and their safety and how they go about their day to day lives," Benning said.

The research collected will be used to determine what kinds of personality traits could make one more susceptible to post-traumatic stress disorder or depression.

Benning also hopes to share the results of the studies with other communities who may be affected by similar tragedies in the future.
