One person is dead after a shooting late Friday night.
Police received reports of shots fired around 11:45 p.m. in the 1900 block of Cindysue Street, near Rancho Drive and Lake Mead Boulevard. Police arrived at the scene to find one person dead from a gunshot wound inside a vehicle.
The man was identified as 21-year-old Leon Max Velasquez of North Las Vegas. He died of gunshot wounds to the head and torso.
The investigation determined the victim was inside the vehicle with the suspect when the suspect shot the victim numerous times and then fled the scene.
The suspect was described as a black man between 18 to 20 years old and was seen wearing a red hooded pullover and tan shorts. The suspect also had dark braids in his hair.
This is the 18th homicide investigated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in 2016.
