This is a roundup of all the breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley for October 29, 2017.

5:17 P.M.

Police received several calls around 4:35 p.m. saying there was a shooting at the Siegel Suites at 700 East Flamingo Road, near Swenson Street. Officers located one victim inside an apartment with a gunshot wound to the leg. Police are still looking for a suspect, which is possibly a black male adult with dreadlocks.

2:46 P.M.

The hiker who fell off a 40-foot cliff in Red Rock Canyon was transported to a local hospital. His injuries are unknown at this time.

12:28 P.M.

A hiker fell off a 40-foot cliff in Red Rock Canyon's Calico Tanks trail around 11:18 a.m. The hiker is awake and breathing. Mercy Air and Las Vegas Search and Rescue are working on getting the hiker to a hospital.

10:30 A.M.

Delta flight 1097, which was en route from Raleigh-Durham to Los Angeles, had to be diverted to McCarran Airport around 9:05 a.m. due to problems with one of the engines. The flight landed safely around 9:40 a.m. There were 140 people onboard.
