This is a roundup of all the breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley for September 1, 2017.

7:16 P.M.

A Las Vegas police motorcycle officer was attempting to stop a vehicle that had run a red light near Clark Avenue and Maryland Parkway. The vehicle then made a U-turn in traffic and the officer's motorcycle went down. The officer was taken to University Medical Center for treatment and is in stable condition. The vehicle he was attempting to stop is still outstanding at this time.

5:08 P.M.

A 2-year-old child is in critical but stable condition after being found floating in a pool in the 9900 block of North El Capitan Way, near Log Cabin Way in far northwest Las Vegas. Police said other adults and children were present at the time but did not see the toddler enter the pool. It is unknown how long the child was in the pool before being found. The child was first transported to Centennial Hills Hospital before being transferred to Summerlin Hospital. Las Vegas police abuse and neglect detectives are investigating.

3:41 P.M.

UPDATE SEPT. 5: The Clark County Coroner has identified 54-year-old James Patrick Mackin as the victim in the fatal crash near the intersection of North Nellis Boulevard and East Kell Lane.

The cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries suffered in the car crash.

ORIGINAL: Around 9:13 a.m. witnesses saw a 2016 Dodge Dart driving erratically on Nellis Boulevard, south of Kell Lane, when it crossed over the raised median into the opposite lane. The Dodge continued on the wrong side of the road until it struck a block wall head on. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are investigating the crash.

1 P.M.

Police were able to talk the man off of the Las Vegas Library building. Reports say that the man threatened to jump off the back of the building, but eventually came down without incident.

NOON:

A crash involving an RTC bus occurred near Lake Mead Boulevard and Simmons.

A police source told us that there were 30 to 40 people on the bus and there are several minor injuries. This is a developing story.

NOON

Police are currently investigating a suspicious item at the 2100 block of Desert Pines Street, near Hillpointe Road and Hills Center Drive. The situation started around 9:50 a.m. Nearby residences are being evacuated as a precaution, and officials are closing off streets in the area.

10:44 A.M.

Police are attempting to talk a man down from the roof of the Las Vegas Library on Washington Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard.

At this point, officers are talking to the man but there's no clarification on whether or not the man is suicidal.

9:13 A.M.

Las Vegas police are investigating a crash at North Nellis Boulevard and Kell Lane, between Lake Mead Boulevard and Owens Avenue.

A Dodge sedan crashed into a wall and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The intersection is closed to all traffic at this time.
