An elderly man was taken to the hospital with serious burns after a small carpet fire at Valley View Apartments at 1400 South Valley View Drive. Officials believe an incense fell on the carpet and started the fire.

Police believe squatters started a fire in a vacant home on the 1300 block of Lawry Avenue, near Lake Mead and Martin Luther King Boulevard around 11:04 p.m.
