The Nevada Department of Transportation says that southbound U.S. 95 is back open near Centennial Parkway after officials investigated a fatal motorcycle crash from this morning.

4:22 A.M.

Nevada Highway Patrol officials report that a 21-year-old man is dead after a fatal motorcycle crash on southbound U.S. 95, just north of Centennial Parkway.

According to witnesses, the motorcyclist entered U.S. 95 at Skye Canyon Park at a very high rate of speed. For reasons unknown, the cyclist broke hard just past the Centennial Pkwy offramp, never striking another vehicle.

The rider was thrown from the bike and landed in the far right lane of the highway. A good Samaritan pulled over to the shoulder and attempted to slow down traffic and help the downed cyclist.

Unfortunately, a silver Audi ran the man over before the good Samaritan could render aid.

The driver of the Audi stopped at the scene and was determined to not have been impaired.

As of 9:25 A.M. Sunday, southbound U.S. 95 is closed in that area and traffic is being diverted off the highway.
