Eighteen members of Nevada Task Force One were deployed to Texas Sunday to assist with Hurricane Harvey relief.

The search and rescue task force consists of firefighters and first responders from several agencies across Nevada.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency requested four people to deal with hazard materials and fourteen people to handle swift water rescues in affected areas of Texas.

The crew left Las Vegas Sunday and is expected to arrive in Texas by Saturday morning.

"It's a daunting task, but it's what they really train for and what they're really hoping to be able to do is to go help people in a community that's been devastated," said Clark County Deputy Fire Chief John Steinbeck.

The crew could be deployed for up to two weeks.
