(KTNV) -- A movie star could be shaking up the political landscape in a solidly red state.
Actress Ashley Judd is reportedly on the verge of announcing she will run for the U.S. Senate in Kentucky.
She would have to unseat one of the most powerful Republicans in the country to get elected, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
Sources tell ABC News that Judd, a loyal Obama supporter and international humanitarian, is eager to take her activism to a new level.
If Judd does run, she certainly has name recognition and plenty of cash.
The election is still 20 months away which gives Judd plenty of time to make up her mind.
She does have at least one problem. She is currently living in Tennessee.
