(KTNV) -- A lot of people have opinions over the sequestration that just went into effect and one former reporter's opinion has him in a war of words with the White House.

Bob Woodward, the reporter that helped take down the Nixon administration with their investigation of Watergate, is now concerned with the current administration and he is not holding back.

Woodward wrote an article in the Washington Post accusing the president of being dishonest about the sequestration.

He says that Obama is trying to blame Republicans when, according to Woodward, the budget cuts were the president's idea.

The White House denies that and also denies Woodward's latest claim that a top Obama official threatened him saying that "he'd regret doing this."

The email with the threat has been traced back to Gene Sperling, Obama's director of the National Economic Council.

Woodward says this spat all comes down to political ideology. He says that the president is using sequestration as a cover to raise taxes.

Republicans say they have already "given in" on billions of dollars in tax increases and they say enough is enough. Democrats say Republicans are not negotiating.
