Parents outraged after Texas student lassoed by teacher
Rowlett, TX (KTNV) -- Parents in Rowlett, Texas, are outraged after their son's teacher wrapped a rope around his neck.
What started as a history lesson, ended with a middle school teacher on leave.
"He was visiting with students and telling them about how Cowboys would coral maverick steers back into the herd," said school spokesperson Chris Moore.
That's when he tried to teach students how cowboys used lassos during those cattle drives. The teacher then tried to rope them.
One 13-year-old boy ended up with bruises around his neck.
"This is not something that we feel was malicious, it was not intent," Moore said to WFAA. "Extremely unfortunate, and extremely poor judgment."
Both the school and police are investigating.
