Michigan couple's car plunges into river
(KTNV) -- It was a very frightening moment recently for one Michigan couple.
You can hear it all on a desperate 911 call. A couple is driving in the middle of the night on a rain-soaked road in Michigan when the road washes out right underneath them and they tumble into freezing cold water upside down.
The vehicle they were in plunged 20 feet into a swollen creek and the car quickly filled with water.
The couple swam out of the car and climbed a drain pipe to escape the river.
Then, when they tried to call 911 for help, their cell service was hit and miss. They had to try over and over again before they were finally able to get through.
They might have been there for hours with no chance of getting through at all except for one thing -- the man had a waterproof case on his cellphone.
