Listeria risk prompts Whole Foods salmon recall

Colorado (KTNV) -- Whole Foods Market is recalling Whole Catch Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon, cold smoked and sliced, sold in stores in 12 states.

The meat may contain Listeria, a bacteria which can cause a sometimes fatal infection in young children, elderly people and others with weakened immune systems.

The product being recalled is:

  • UPC Code: 0 99482 40880 0
  • Lot Code: 7425A2298B

No illnesses have been reported.

The recall was announced after a sample of the product tested positive for Listeria.

The recalled items were sold in stores in Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Rhode Island and Utah.
