Petition over Easy Bake Oven reaches Hasbro, celebrity chefs
New Jersey (KTNV) -- A little boy's Christmas gift in Garfield, New Jersey has turned into a crusade.
4-year-old Gavyn Boscio wanted an Easy Bake Oven for Christmas, but he changed his mind because the toy was designed and marketed for girls.
His 13-year-old sister McKenna Pope said her brother would be too embarrassed to use a purple or pink oven in front of his friends.
McKenna then started an online petition, asking toy company Hasbro to make the toy ovens in other colors and to show boys on the package.
40,000 people signed the petition, including some top celebrity chefs.
All this has reached Hasbro; the family has been invited to the company's headquarters on Monday to discuss how to improve the Easy Bake Oven.
