Woman breast-feeds wrong baby at Minnesota hospital
Apple Valley, MN (KTNV) -- A baby mix-up at a Minneapolis-area hospital isn't sitting well with a new mom.
Tammy Van Dyke said a hospital nurse gave her son to another woman for breast-feeding.
She said hospital staff told her that her son was mistakenly placed in the wrong bassinet and given to another mom.
Abbott Northwestern Hospital admitted to the mix-up.
The hospital released a statement saying, "A newborn was taken to the wrong room and briefly breast-fed by another mother."
"The woman who was breast-feeding my son, hit the call nurse button because she looked at his ankle tag that had my baby's name," said Tammy.
The baby will have to undergo hepatitis and HIV tests every three months for the next year.
The hospital gave Tammy an apology letter that promised a full investigation.
