Arrest made over botched robbery that killed 3
ONTARIO, Calif. (AP) -- Police have arrested a man in connection with a botched home invasion robbery that killed three people at an Ontario home.
Sgt. David McBride says 34-year-old Steven Carter of Upland was arrested Tuesday morning on suspicion of murder.
McBride says investigators believe that Carter and two other men staged the home invasion holdup before dawn Monday but got into a shootout with the intended victim.
That man, 31-year-old Brandon Perez, was found dead in the home along with 25-year-old Albert Thomas of Ontario.
Another man was found dead in the driveway but his name hasn't been released.
McBride says it's unclear what the robbers were after but he says 10 to 20 pounds of marijuana along with pot-growing equipment were found in the home.
