NBA Commissioner to step down in 2014
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- NBA Commissioner David Stern will step down on February 1, 2014.
By the time he retires, Stern will have worked as commissioner for 30 years.
The Board of Governors voted unanimously to accept Stern's recommendation that Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver succeed him as Commissioner.
During Stern's tenure, he's overseen revenue increases and the addition of new teams in the league.
Silver has worked as the NBA's Deputy Commissioner and COO since July 2006, overseeing TV agreements and collective bargaining agreements.
