Operation produces hundreds of bottles of fake ketchup
Dover, NJ (KTNV) -- A city in New Jersey is battling a counterfeit ketchup problem.
The Food and Drug Administration has a warehouse full of 2,000 bottles of the fake product.
Neighbors in Dover, New Jersey sniffed out the operation when some of the fake bottles spilled and went bad, attracting critters of all kinds.
When investigators went inside, they found empty bottles, labels and lots of red goop.
The Heinz Ketchup Company is investigating the find as an unauthorized repackaging operation, complete with phony bottles and phony labels.
They don't believe the fake ketchup made it to store shelves.
