LOS ANGELES (AP) -- "Carmageddon II" -- the sequel -- is coming to one of the nation's most crowded freeways, and authorities are hoping its subtitle won't be "The Traffic Strikes Back."

As transportation officials prepare to close a key 10-mile section of Interstate 405 next weekend, they are urging people to "eat, shop and play locally."

Last year people did just that when the same section had to be closed for a weekend. The result, some of the lightest traffic anyone could remember.

This year, as an added incentive to stay home, transit officials are partnering with local businesses to offer discounts to people who take public transportation.

And a group called Artmageddon is encouraging people to take in museums and theaters in their own neighborhoods.
