Police identify 1 of the 4 people shot in the Alps
CHEVALINE, France (AP) -- The Sipa news agency says French police have identified one of four victims shot in the Alps as a British man who was born in Baghdad.
Citing investigators, Sipa reported Thursday that the man is Saad al Hilli, a resident of a London suburb born in 1962.
Al Hilli was found dead along with two women Wednesday in a car on a forest road in the French Alps. A cyclist was also slain there.
A 4-year-old girl was found alive in the car and a 7-year-old girl found near the car was hospitalized with bullet wounds. The reason for the attack is unclear.
British authorities have not said where the family was from but police in Surrey, southwest of London, say they are talking with French authorities.
