Jurors to begin deliberations at Peterson trial
JOLIET, Ill. (AP) -- Now, it's jurors' turn.
After years of media attention and five weeks of testimony, allegations Drew Peterson murdered his third wife are finally expected to go to a jury Wednesday.
Jurors are scheduled to receive instructions from the judge in the morning and then withdraw to a Joliet courthouse room to deliberate.
The former Illinois police sergeant has pleaded not guilty to murdering Kathleen Savio in 2004. He fell under scrutiny in her death only after his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, disappeared in 2007.
Defense attorney Joel Brodsky told reporters Tuesday his client has prepared himself emotionally for jurors' decision -- whatever it is.
As he sent them home Tuesday, the judge reminded jurors not to watch or read anything about the case and to get a good night's sleep.
