A mixed open on Wall Street; Shaw Group soars
NEW YORK (AP) -- U.S. stocks are little changed at the opening of trading on Wall Street following big gains last week.
The Dow Jones industrial average is up 1 point at 13,076 shortly after the opening bell Monday.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner is meeting his German counterpart and the head of the European Central Bank, Mario Draghi. Draghi's pledge to do whatever was needed to protect the euro set off a market rally last week. The Dow rose back above 13,000 for the first time since May.
The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index is up one point to 1,387, while the Nasdaq is up 12 points to 2,970.
Chicago Bridge & Iron Co. agreed to buy Shaw Group for $3 billion. Shaw's stock jumped 60 percent to $42.70.
