RENO, Nev. (AP) -- Two internal candidates, two administrators from outside Nevada and a Clark County School District official are among five finalists for the Washoe County schools superintendent post.

The district announced the five candidates Wednesday. They'll be visiting next week for interviews and public town hall meetings.

Among the finalists are deputy superintendent Jane Woodburn and chief school accountability officer Paul LaMarca, both of Washoe County School District.

Administrator Judy Peppler of the Wake County Public School System in Raleigh, N.C., and Chicago Public Schools administrator Harrison Peters also made the cut.

From southern Nevada, Clark County School District deputy superintendent Pedro Martinez is a finalist.

The search comes as Superintendent Heath Morrison prepares to leave June 30 to take the helm at Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools in North Carolina.
