Las Vegas police say a 53-year-old pedestrian was crossing against a traffic light when he was hit and killed by a Ford Expedition SUV near Sahara Avenue and Lamb Boulevard.

Police say the man was about 30 feet outside of the crosswalk when he was hit around 8:30 p.m. Monday. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The Clark County coroner identified the man as Carlos D. Moreno from Las Vegas.

Detectives say witnesses say he came out from behind some landscaping at a convenience store before the crash.

The driver of the SUV stayed at the scene and police say it does not appear the driver was impaired.

Part of the intersection was closed for about three hours during the investigation.

This was the 108th traffic-related fatality in the the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction in 2015.
