Local families say they're fed up with the crime at Wetlands Park near Broadbent and Hollywood. They want it to stop so that the entrance to Sunrise Trailhead can open back up.

The Ellsworth family is fed up with the mischief and crime. They use to frequent the park weekly.

"We used to ride our bikes and we used to find sticks and go in the rivers," said Emma Ellsworth.

But the graffiti and broken glass got so bad, they can't even come to the park anymore.

"It cuts people's toes when they don't wanna wear shoes cause sometimes we don't wear shoes."

Clark County Wetlands officials tell 13 Action News, the vandalism issues were just too much to ignore back in September 2013. They had to block off the Sunrise Trailhead entrance to try and deter the alleged teens from partying at the park after the bathrooms were vandalized.

Natalie Ellsworth remembers when she first saw the entrance and the parking lot all blocked off.

"It was totally blocked up, broken glass everywhere, graffiti, and it's not being maintained regularly."

Clark County officials tell us they really want to reopen the entrance and the parking lot again but they need to fix the vandalized bathrooms first and they have no timeline for when that will be complete.

The main entrance to the park is still open. That is located at 7050 Wetlands Park Lane off Tropicana Ave, one mile east of Boulder Highway.
