Killed cab driver's brother calls for tighter gun laws
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The brother of Michael Boldon is speaking out against gun violence.
Boldon was killed last month when a shooting led to a crash on the Las Vegas Strip.
His brother, Tehran Boldon, urged members of the Senate Judiciary Committee to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
He also spoke about gun rights supporters.
"Until they understand what it is like to lose a family member, I think they shouldn't speak about gun control," he said. "They don't know. They did not have to bury their brother because of lax gun laws."
Friday's hearing followed testimony on a bill sponsored by democratic senator Justin Jones of Las Vegas.
The bill would require universal background checks for all gun transactions in Nevada, and tightens gun control laws for those suffering from mental illness.
