Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A benefit at the Laugh Factory raised $2,000 for Michael Boldon, the taxi driver killed in a crash caused by a shooting on the Strip last month.

The benefit event took place at Laugh Factory at the Tropicana on Wednesday.

Organizers invited guests to attend the comedy show to raise money for Boldon's family.

The Origin India Restaurant on Paradise also held a fundraiser for Boldon's family on Friday.

They were taking at least $5 donations for a box lunch. They raised more than $500.

The suspect in a shooting that led to Boldon's death appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom on Thursday morning.

He will appear in court again next month for an extradition hearing.
