School lockdowns lifted after hunt for bobcat ends
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Four schools were placed on lockdown Thursday morning after reports of a bobcat sighting.
Police said a call came in just before 11 a.m. reporting a three-foot-tall bobcat on Bannockburn Street, near Charleston and Rampart in western Las Vegas.
Authorities locked down nearby schools as a precaution: Piggot Elementary, Jacobson Elementary, Derfelt Elementary and Johnson Middle School.
Animal control officers and police scoured the area for a bobcat, but no trace of the cat was ever found.
The search ended at about 12:45 p.m. and school lockdowns were subsequently lifted.
