Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The North Las Vegas man suspected of killing his wife last August by beating her in the head and stomach has been arrested in California.
Anthony Mayo was arrested at about 9:30 a.m. March 12 at a home in Mojave City, Calif., following a collaborative effort involving task forces from Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
Mayo is currently in custody in the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Detention Center awaiting extradition.
North Las Vegas Police responded to a home on the 4300 block of Matinee Avenue on Aug. 10, 2012, after receiving a report of a domestic battery situation.
Upon arrival, they discovered that 40-year-old Beverly McFarlane had injuries to her head, neck and abdomen. She was unable to communicate with police officers and was transported to University Medical Center Trauma.
Hospital staff treated McFarlane for significant brain injury and listed her in critical condition. She died Aug. 23.
An investigation was conducted and an arrest warrant was issued for her husband, Anthony Tyron Mayo, was issued on Feb. 4, 2013.
Police suspected that he may have fled to Southern California because he has family there.
McFarlane's family told Action News they were happy police finally arrested Mayo.
