Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Mexico-based Interjet has announced that it will offer nonstop international service from Monterey to Las Vegas beginning Thursday.

The first flight is scheduled to arrive at 12:25 p.m. at McCarran International Airport.

After that, Interjet will fly between Monterey and Las Vegas on Thursdays and Sundays using a 150-seat Airbus A320 aircraft.

According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, visitors who arrive on these flights are projected to generate $15.2 million in non-gaming impact during the route's first year of operation.

Mexico's VivaAerobus offered flights between Las Vegas and Monterey before it eliminated the route in early January.

Interjet is still relatively new to Las Vegas. Twice-weekly service between McCarran and Toluca began in November.
