Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Interstate 15 southbound was shut down near Cheyenne Avenue and Lake Mead Boulevard Sunday afternoon after a tractor trailer collided with a small passenger vehicle.
Las Vegas police said due to the closure, NASCAR fans were asked to stay at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
The crash happened just before 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
Nevada Highway Patrol said a 31-year-old woman from Las Vegas from the vehicle was transported to University Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.
NHP said alcohol may have played a factor in this crash, and they recovered open containers of alcohol in the woman's vehicle.
