North Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Authorities in North Las Vegas were called to a domestic battery situation early Sunday morning.

It started around 3:30 a.m. in the Stonebrooke community on the 2100 block of Pipeline Beach Court, near Tropical Parkway.

When officers arrived, they made contact with the victims, heard gunfire and began evacuating nearby homes.

The investigation indicated 28-year-old Dustin Kent began arguing with his wife. The argument escalated into a physical confrontation, in which Kent allegedly struck his wife and pushed her to the ground as he pulled their 7-month-old baby from her arms.

Two friends of the family arrived to assist the victim. Kent reportedly attacked them before they were able to evacuate the home with his wife and child.

When officers arrived, Kent fired a handgun from the front door and retreated into the house where he fired additional shot.

After several hours SWAT officers made entry, took Kent into custody and booked him on several charges.

Kent's wife and child suffered minor injuries in the altercation.
