15-year-old killed in suspected drunk driving crash
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A Las Vegas teen was killed in a possible drunk driving crash on Rainbow Boulevard, south of Lake Mead Boulevard.
It happened around 8:15 p.m. Saturday.
Las Vegas police said a 2003 Chevrolet Blazer was traveling north on Rainbow, when it lost control and began sliding towards a curb where it went off the road.
The vehicle then struck a light pole resulting in major damage to the vehicle. The light pole was knocked over.
The driver, 23-year-old Arturo Castillo of Las Vegas, was suspected of being under the influence and booked into the Clark County Detention Center for DUI.
There were two passengers in the vehicle; an 18-year-old male received minor injuries and a 15-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim's name has not been released.
This was the 25th traffic related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction so far in 2013.
