Las Vegas NASCAR Weekend in full swing
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- NASCAR Weekend is in full swing. With a solid forecast Saturday in Las Vegas, racers are geared up for an exciting day.
Friday's rain caused some headaches for racing fans.
The track got soaked and crews worked throughout the day to keep it dry. Eventually they had to give in to the elements, deciding to suspend qualifying for Sunday's Kobalt Tools 400.
Still, fans told Action News it hasn't ruined their weekend racing plans.
Because of the rain, anyone who purchased a Friday Only Grandstand Ticket will get a refund. Those who bought a Friday Neon Garage Pass will have it honored on Saturday.
There's plenty on tap for the big weekend:
At 1:15 p.m. Saturday it's the Sam's Town 500. Right after the race, a Sam's Town Live! concert with Kenny Wayne Shepard.
Later Saturday night, the Race Jam at Fremont Street. The headliner Kix is taking the stage at 9 p.m.
The big race is Sunday; the Kobalt Tools 400 begins at noon.
Racers are also making appearances around Las Vegas to meet NASCAR fans. Legendary owner Richard Childress and drivers Austin and Ty Dillon were at the Venetian Friday night.
Austin drives the No. 3 AdvoCare Car for Childress Racing. He was last year's nationwide rookie of the year.
