LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Tourism authorities say the number of visitors to Las Vegas dipped slightly this January compared with last year.
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority said Friday that 3.1 million visitors came to town in January, down 0.7 percent year-over-year.
The dip happened even though convention attendance jumped 6 percent to 572,000 people.
Room occupancy was virtually flat from last January at 78 percent, and average hotel room rates ticked up less than 1 percent to $114 per night.
Gambling revenue for Clark County, where Las Vegas is located, dropped 13 percent to $802 million.
