21-year-old man dead after crashing into bus on Owens

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- One person is dead after their car crashed into a bus on Owens Avenue east of Sandhill Road.

It happened just before 6 p.m. Friday night.

Las Vegas police said a 21-year-old man from Las Vegas was traveling on Owens in a 2005 Nissan 350Z, when he lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle began to spin and then struck the back of a stopped bus that was loading passengers.

The 21-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

The operator of the bus was not hurt, and some passengers on the bus received minor injuries.

Police said they believe the weather and slick conditions may have played a role in the crash.

This was the 24th fatal traffic collision in Metro's jurisdiction in 2013.
