Staff lounge at Canarelli Middle School transformed thanks to student's letter
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The staff lounge at Canarelli Middle School has a whole new look and feel thanks to a heartfelt letter about a teacher.
The teacher's lounge at Canarelli Middle School was anything but relaxing, with stark white walls and simple card tables. But after one student's letter to Walker Furniture, teachers now have a new place to kick back.
Walker Furniture received more than a thousand letters from Clark County School District students, but a letter from seventh grader Lily Day really stood out. Now not only her favorite teacher, but all the teaching staff at Canarelli can enjoy their new teacher's lounge.
In the letter, Lily describes her advisory teacher Mrs. Shelly Rambur as wonderful, caring, dedicated and amazing.
"I started slipping and she was like, 'You are able to do better. You have to,'" said Lily.
"She wrote a great letter and she deserves to win this," said Mrs. Rambur.
Walker Furniture recognized Rambur's efforts and wanted to reward all of the teachers at Canarelli. One by one the couches, side tables, lamps and decor were unloaded from the Walker moving truck, transforming the teacher's lounge.
"I didn't realize how bad it looked until we came in, but it really does totally change the whole atmosphere," said Principal Cathy Mead.
Mrs. Rambur was a little overwhelmed by the recognition, but said her favorite part about the whole thing was Lily's test scores came back with all passing grades.
The donation was Walker Furniture's 13th annual Teachers Appreciation Day.
