Attempted murder suspect caught near elementary schools
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- An attempted murder suspect out of California was arrested near two Las Vegas elementary schools on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said 21-year-old Jesse Pineda was believed to be in the area of Pecos and Walnut, prompting authorities to lock down Gwendolyn Woolley Elementary and Clyde C. Cox Elementary as a precaution.
Pineda was located by a U.S. Marshal's Service Task Force several blocks from the schools.
After he was arrested, the lock downs were lifted at each school. Children and staff members were never in danger.
Police said Pineda was wanted on an attempted murder charge out of California. He was booked at the Clark County Detention Center to await extradition.
The U.S. Marshal's Task Force is comprised of U.S. Marshal's, Homeland Security Agents, Metro Detectives, Nevada Highway Patrol and Nevada Dept. of Investigations members.
