Chef Sammy DeMarco's Vegas restaurants close
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The First Food & Bar at The Venetian and Rattlecan at the Palazzo have both been closed, according to vegas.eater.com.
The closures happened last night.
Eater Vegas reported yesterday that there were rumors that both of the spaces would close to make way for Mario Batali's and Joe Bastianich's two new restaurants.
Both restaurants featured the food of chef to the chefs Sammy DeMarco, a.k.a. Sammy D.
Reactions on Twitter this morning included "I guess the Venetian has bigger plans. I'm really bummed out by this. I think it's a bad move" from @vegasburger and "Yeah, just got word too. That sucks. First was my go-to meeting place there" from @EastCoastGamblr.
An official statement was released this morning by the ownership team of VV Ventures:
"After years of enjoyment by our customers of FIRST Food & Bar and the initial success of Rattlecan, we have entered a mutual agreement to relocate the restaurants from their current locations. Both restaurants are closed at this time and we look forward to announcing a new Las Vegas home for Rattlecan in the near future. We couldn't be more proud of these two unique restaurants and our amazing staff members. The owners deeply appreciate the amazing press, reviews and customer support that the restaurants have enjoyed over the years."
